DT-152
Leather Repair
Compound
This is a water base material which is air dried
requiring no heat to cure. When cured, this material remains totally
flexible and natural feeling just like the original leather. It
is a thick, paste compound which may be easily worked into crevices
and cracks in order to bond the separated leather together permanently
and fill crevices completely flush with the surrounding surface
areas. A very strong repair is possible using this compound
and it is most versatile in repairing minor surface scratches or
cracks. Very little sanding is required but if necessary may be
done using 220 grit or 400 grit sandpaper. DT-1105 Leather Prep
may also be used to smooth over the surface layer and remove any
excess material. The compound spreads smoothly and will be
used on all types of leather damage from slight surface scratches
to major cuts and holes. May be used on all types of leather. Available
sizes: 2 oz., 4 oz., 16 oz., 32 oz., Gallon

DT-156 Leather Adhesive
This is a glue especially designed for leather. Its main purpose
is to attach subpatch material to the underside of leather when
making a repair. It may also be used to reattach leather to itself.
It is a water base product that will set up under light pressure.
Therefore, drying time is almost instantaneous. Remains extremely
soft and flexible with no hardening of the area to which it is
applied.
Available sizes: 2 oz., 4 oz., 8 oz., 16 oz., 32 oz., Gallon

DT-16 Water Based Spray Grain
Water Base spray grain is used to replace any grain pattern that
has been lost through the repair process. It must be sprayed onto
the surface of the repaired area, after the repair has been completed.
Best applied using a Preval sprayer since this unit produces the
most appealing spray pattern and will create a near perfect simulated
grain pattern. The compound should be allowed to dry (this may
be hurried by use of a hair dryer), and may be lightly sanded
if necessary Color Coats may then be applied directly onto the
Water Base Spray Grain. This material is very flexible which makes
it most attractive for use on leather. It may be used on any repaired
material requiring grain replacement and since it is flexible
may also be used to enhance a weak grain pattern on repaired Vinyl
seat upholstery or other very flexible vinyl's. Available sizes:
200cc, 8 oz., 16 oz., 32 oz., Gallon

DT-1105 Leather Prep
This chemical is formulated from several types of alcohol and
milder based solvents primarily to prepare the surface of leather
for repair or color coating/dyeing. It will remove all dressings,
protectants, waxes and oils from the surface of leather, but more
importantly, it will strip off the initial layers of the finish
which opens the leather so that it will accept all repair and
colorant materials. This creates a permanent bonding of the materials
to the leather. The chemical should be applied in heavy, wet amounts,
unless working with Aniline type leathers. Leather Prep should
be sprayed lightly over the surface of Aniline type leathers,
immediately followed by light brushing with a soft bristle brush.
Using a cloth or paper towel, immediately wipe dry. This will
thoroughly remove any foreign matter found on the surface of the
leather. Leather Prep also works as an excellent de greaser. Useful
when leather becomes heavily contaminated with body oils and other
forms of grease and oils.
Available sizes: 8 oz., 16 oz., 32 oz., Gallon

DT-111 Linen Sub Patch
Linen sub-patch will be used when performing repairs to leather
that has a large hole or cut completely through the leather. It
should be cut to a minimum of 1/2” larger than the hole
itself and placed under the leather and between the leather and
foam substrate by use of tweezers. Make certain that all edges
and corners of the sub patch are lying flat and do not create
a raised outline on the surface of the leather. It is always a
good idea to round the corners of the sub patch creating a round
or oblong shape without any sharp corners, this will help to prevent
“show-through” on the surface as well as make the
placement of the sub patch easier and more manageable. The sub
patch must be held in place by use of DT-156 Leather Adhesive.
The linen sub patch will strengthen the repair but will not protrude
through or become visible on the outside surface of the material.
Available sizes: 12” X 12”, 1/2 yard, 1 yard

DT-112 Leather Insert Material
Leather Insert Material is genuine leather that will be used when
performing repairs to leather that has a large hole or cut with
missing material. It should be cut to fit inside the area of missing
material, and glued to the Linen Sub patch by using DT-156 Leather
Adhesive. Make certain that all edges and corners of the Leather
Insert are lying flat and flush so that it does not create a raised
outline on the surface of the leather. It is always a good idea
to sand or shave the edges of the Leather Insert, after placement,
to avoid any “high spots” in the finished repair.
Edges between the two pieces of leather will be filled and bonded
using DT-152 Leather Repair Compound. Leather Insert Material
must be prepped just as the surrounding leather prior to the application
of repair and colorant materials. This method is more efficient
than filling with repair compound alone.
Available sizes: 6” X 6”, 12” X 12”.
